I have isolated yeast Mitochondria following a standard protocol. But while checking the purity of mitochondrial fraction by Western blotting, I am getting a histone 3 band in addition to a hsp60 band in my mitochondrial fraction but not in the cytoplasmic fraction. Is this due to cross contamination of nucleus in my mitochondrial fraction or histone 3 is also present in mitochondria??
