I am working with a CO2 Tolerant Schenedemus obliquus strain. We are growing this strain in large photobioreactors to mitigate CO2 from the flue gas (coming from a power plant). We use BG11 media. The algae was growing really well until we put flue gas. Even after putting the flue gas the algae maintained a steady growth for a week and then started change in color and decrease in optical density. I checked the nutrient (Nitrate and phosphate) and there is a significant amount of nutrient still there. The pH of the culture is around 8.7 which you expect when growing algae in presence of Nitrate. What can be the reason for this change in color or loss of viability?

Any suggestion would be highly appreciated.
