Basically, detergents (like Tween20) in low concentration help to reduce unspecific protein-protein interaction, without affecting Antibody-antigen binding.

In low concentration it can act as a blocking agent. Typically, non ionic detergents can be used as blocking agents. However there are pros and cons of using non ionic detergents as blockers. Please check attached article. It will help you to get an good idea.
