Why absolute ethanol react with total antioxidant capacity reagent (H2SO4, Na2SO4, (NH4) 2MoO4) and gives intense dark blue colour when it used as a blank?
The impurities from absolute ethanol like propanol, iso-butanol, n-butanol, isopropanol can react with your reagent.
Try to distillate ethanol carefully to remove the impurities ( if any ).
Another reason may be formation of coordination bonds, is it possible to use non-polar solvent and free from O and N?
Good Luck
due to impurites present in ethanol. distill ethanol 2-3 times before using it as blank.
