The question, who should be included within an HE COP? Should it just be academics, teaching assistants, academic developers, and to some extent tutors?
What about educational technologist, instructional designers, etc.?
Most importantly, what about students? How can their voices be heard within this?
The stakeholders in Higher Education Community of Practice (HECOP) should include institution administrators, professors, curriculum developers, librarians, parents, community representatives, government at all levels (municipal, regional, and national), policy makers, and representatives from companies (that is where the products from these institutions land).
@Oyedemi: I agree with your feedback to a certain point; it is all good and well to include all of the above mentioned stakeholders, but to be realistic, it will take some time to implement.
On the other hand, I think it will be best to start at your own unit/department, then moving onto to Faculty and then the university as a whole, etc. We first need to lay groundwork (lay a foundation).
Since 2006, the number of communities of practice at the University of Southern Queensland, in Australia, has grown to span the entire university; the intention is to create defined "space" in which to share knowledge about specific areas of interest or practice, this to enable members to address practical problems they encounter.
