Does academics prefer the old traditional way (step by step instruction on how to perform experiment) or the new alternative (setting up own experiment, given a real life example).
My view is to include emerging technologies within an scientific laboratory. Technologies that can be used can range from simulation, applets and word processing software.
Additionally, it will be good for students not only to play around with these simulations and applets but also to develop, construct, code their own simulations using coding software.

During the first half of the lab instruction we will have to administer the traditional approach. Once learner gained grip on the subject we can administer new strategies encompassing their own experimentation. Inclusive of both method would bring lot of benefits. Traditional approach would help the students to develop Lower Order Thinking Skills (LOTS) whereas, new approach would help them to develop Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS).
