When an author want to cite the work/idea/theoretical model/results/facts for publication purpose, who should s/he cited (giving citation credit)?
(a) the first author (pioneer) who proposed/explained/presented the original work/idea/model/results OR
(b) the first author (pioneer) as well as those who later cited the original work of the first author?
Hello, I think it is right to quote the source and the author from where the idea / theoretical model was borrowed, etc. In case of working with sources derived from the original source, they should also be cited.

Hi Farid, I would agree with Silvia, I would also add the advice that you should always cite the source that you have read. You may not need to cite the original source if it is foundational to the subject (well known and accepted) and well covered in subsequent reviews and critiques which you have read and can therefore cite.
