Hello,
Is anyone researching William Blake's poem "Jerusalem" as it relates to his experience of the industrial revolution?
I am hoping to write periodic articles for a group that is working on a collection of stories from the perspective of families in steel mill communities.
In order to help these people write fiction, I am looking for how to shift gears from real life to artistic transformations of life.

Blake observed the propertied classes crush down those beneath them in the name of national interest. Hence, this is a poem of struggle for human.Abstractions rendered partly discernible to the bodily ear and eye by poetry and painting cannot be elucidated so that every line and image is made immediately apparent to the observer.

I noted your mention of 'abstractions' and I have just read that Blake felt that--my interpretation--the world of the abstract categories was a deadly trap for the artist. He seems to advocate for precise and specific details as the only potent answer to those who, from far above such as Sir Joshua Reynolds, claimed to hold all knowledge and art in their in general classifications.
