If one of the coauthors of a research paper does not contribute intellectually but financially only to a project, is he/she entitled to call off the submission of the paper?
S Praveen Kumar, so let's say this person has not contributed yet to the completion of the manuscript. Actually, that person refuses to add comments but this person supported the project financially without any written contract. Is this person entitled to decide if the manuscript is submitted?
Financial contribution does not constitute coauthorship; it is funding. So the (other) authors own intellectual property and can submit the paper. Try to 'reimburse' the dissenting 'coauthor' if you can
Sorry, I mean what are the reasons not to include him/her "in the decision making"? I just want to know how you address this situation as I am facing similar issue at the moment.
Ibham Veza The reasons are the ones I am mentioning in my original question. This person is stopping me -the main author- and the other coauthors from submitting this paper without providing detailed feedback when this person has not even written or commented on anything in the manuscript. Also, this person has not performed any actual work beyond providing funding for the research to happen (which of course is important).
