I would like to colaborate in elaboration the any idea in construction of cutting tool. I am waiting for answer from researcher who has expirience in cutting zone analyse using FEM method. Both in stress and temperatures analysis. I think it is possible to get economical effect of this solution and write the good interesting paper to good scientific journal.

I have experience in FE softwares more than five years. As far as my knowledge is concern, in any machining analysis (turning, milling, shaping) the tool is considered as rigid body, so that the forces encountered during machining can be evaluated along with von-mises stress, energy consumed etc.. Moreover, the temperature distribution in primary, secondary and tertiary zone can also be obtained. But i am not sure about tool wear evolution in any FE software. By my knowledge, Normally in any FE tool E.g. ANSYS, ABAQUS, DEFORM, the tool is considered as rigid (to reduce computational time and memory storage) so tool wear in terms of deformation may not be obtained. Now, to design a tool, tool wear need to be considered. This is my idea so far. If you wish then we will discuss on this further for your problem definition.

The domain of your question is very broad but your requirement is specific. So to be very frank more precise details  may give effective solution to your requirement and them FEM can play some role.
