While acetic acid may not be the most popular craving, it may be an indication that your patient's body has an unbalanced pH level, given that vinegar is highly acidic. It is possible your patient is experiencing a particular deficiency within her diet or is experiencing some physical changes within the body. I have found that some studies suggest that a craving for vinegar is indicative of fluctuating insulin and potassium levels within the body.

May also be related to "pica", in turn related to iron deficiency anaemia, more common in women
