Medical humanities is a very interesting interdisciplinary field of science. Do you know which leading and emerging university postgraduate programs offer or examine the opportunity to offer such studies (especially in but not only restricted to Europe)? Can you give some examples of research topics, contemporary problems approached, new methods and challenges in the field.

Thank you. I can mine the internet and find hundreds of articles and websites. However, I expect an answer from people in the field. I am interested in the varying methods and some recent developments in the area. For instance, it would be no surprise that American and British universities are leading providers of such degrees, at least in terms of the number of degrees offered. At the same time, I remember having seen PhD positions advertised in Italy. I wonder how medical humanities are being approached - is it a survival strategy for humanities departments or rather a natural collaboration to address some healthcare issues.
Thank you for your reactionary answer! So this is a strategy - it is not necessary to be enrolled in a Medical Humanities program, contributions to the field may also come from people in the social sciences.
I am myself very passionate about pursuing research (or an internship or work) in medical humanities or public health related issues without having to study medicine. At the same time, I think we owe a huge 'thank you' to those physicians who diligently work for the sake of humanity. I believe health literacy and well being are indeed major issues and obstacles to a sustainable life-style promoting healthcare.
At the same time, I would like to know whether medical humanities research done in sub-fields such as language and literature, sociology and social or cultural anthropology is taken into account by people engaged in the practice or research activities in medicine. More particularly, in which educational programmes and institutions such links or examples have been established?
