I am planning to collect root samples from poplar trees. But I can't decide which types of root corer and which company to buy from.
I recommen you the bi-partite root auger of EijKelkamp,you can purchase it in Czech Republic through Ekotechnika (http://www.ekotechnika.cz/dvoudilny-korenovy-vrtak). Are you planning to measure with winrhizo or are you only interested in root biomass?
Thank you so much Enrique Andivia. Yes i am interested to estimate root biomass and as well as nitrogen contents.
We actually design our own corers and have them made by a local machine shop. We have corrers up to 15 cm in diameter. They have a beveled edge which we keep sharpened with a file. in very tough soil we will pound the corer in 10 cm at a time, pull it out and remove the soil/roots and then continue deeper.
