We are looking for a trail camera suitable for somewhat specific conditions – for approximately 6 months, we will be monitoring sheep on a large pasture (about 1 hectare) 24/7, with no nearby power source, with the goal of capturing any potential wolf attacks. That’s why we are considering solar-powered cameras, but have questions about it: what happens if there is no sunlight for an extended period and the batteries run out – does the camera work normally when the sun is there again? Do you have any experience to what extent functionality of the camera is limited if the camera is mounted on a tree and the three crown blocks the sunlight? Do you have any experience with this? Or has anybudy used powerbank instead of batteries? Since we need to cover a large pasture area, we are looking for a camera that detects motion and consequently starts recording video from as far away as possible, has also rather good night recordings and can record at night over the longest possible distance, uses no-glow infrared (invisible IR) illumination, is quiet. It is also desirable for the camera to have a wide viewing angle and the ability to overwrite old video recordings (we would only remove the SD card from the camera in case of a wolf attack), as the sheep will be constantly triggering.

And our budget is a maximum of 300 € per camera.

I would appreciate any recommendation which camera to use or solution you might have used.
