Which topology used in low latency adc architecture?

can anybody clarify what is the difference between latency and settling time for any Analog to Digital converter.

The latency of ADC is the amount of time that passes from the converter capturing the analog signal, until the digital-output word is ready for retrieval. Settling time is the time necessary for the converter's output to converge to the final value of a input (successive approximation register).
