Dear MoBIs, we are working on the program for the upcoming 4th International Mobile Brain/Body Imaging Conference from June 8th to June 10th 2020 in San Diego.
I would like to start a discussion and to know from the community which research areas within the realm of mobile EEG / MoBI are considered important and should be represented.
Which specific topics in MoBI hardware, MoBI software, and MoBI applications do you consider important?

Are there new areas in applications that should be considered specifically? Was there a recent development in one of the three main areas (hardware, software, applications) that deserves more attention?

Thanks for the inclusion Klaus Gramann ! Framing current capacities and hypotheses for future experiments using MoBI in arts, psychotherapies and neuroaesthetics would be valuable. In that the research is just beginning in these areas, perhaps experimental hypotheses might be proposed in efforts to establish collaborative teams within a translational science paradigm. A structure for this might emerge from Scott Makeig's talk in Berlin where he identified key areas for growth and expansion for MoBI which include hardware advances, interdisciplinary collaboration, higher resolution EEG studies and affective and social neuroscience studies.

Great to know about this conference!
In my opinion, mobile EEGs still need a lot of work on compatibility and synch with other setups as well as diverse range of frequencies, connectivity (range of Bluetooth, accessories and customization such as battery capacity, app, weight to name a few.
A wide range of use is in research on epilepsy which I suppose that should be covered in this conference. Though I am not sure if they are sensitive enough to detect hippocamal rhythmicity especially theta SWRs in sleep and wake, and if there are enough studies in this area using mobile EEGs (because of the subtle activity in deeper areas compared to cortical region). Also vestibular processing, kinesthetics and BCI are among promising areas of research to use mobile EEG.
