One of the most common characteristics of Monsoon of the Indian subcontinent is erratic nature. Late onset of monsoon, mid season drought, late withdrawal of monsoon are the facts which is causing real problem in case of cultivation of kharif rice which is mainly rainfed. There are so many systems of rice cultivation e.g. transplanted rice (mostly practiced by the Indian farmers), SRI (system of rice intensification), Alternate wetting and drying, direct seeded, aerobic system. Which one will be the most appropriate in this condition with respect to productivity as well as economics? Do anyone have practical experience on it?
