The GC anlysisof a vegetable oil was run but without a standard. I understand that the chromatogram can be interpreted by comparing with published standards. Is there a specific standard for oil from specific source, e.g specific refernce standard for soybean oil, neem oil etc? In addition, I would be glad if anyone with such standard can make it available to me.
You can obtain methyl-esters of the relevant fatty acids. Look at FAME papers
From my little knowledge abt GC-MC, one needs to have a standard to work with. Oil analysis is not new, one can modified/ develop on the existing ones.
A mixture of fatty acids would be the most appropriate. Choose a mixture which is similar to your oils - including unsaturated fatty acids for instance. If you are running the samples as methyl esters get methylated fatty acids as your standard.

The methyl esters were quantified directly in GC equipped with flame ionization detector (GC-FID) and column selected for biodiesel (length 30 m, 0.32 mm I.D., film thickness 0.25 mm) with helium as the carrier gas at a flow rate of 1.0 mL/min and a split ratio of 50:1. The inlet temperature was kept at 290 oC and the initial temperature was held at 210 oC (for 12 min) followed by ramping at a rate of 20 oC/min till 250 oC, hold for 8 min. The detector temperature was kept at 300 oC and the injection volume of 1 ml was used for analysis. Methyl heptadecanoate was used as the standard for GC-FID.......

methyl ester can be one option but for that GC data is not enough. because major disadvantage of fatty acid profiling in gc without std is shifting of peaks. There is lot of chances of shifting of peaks so better process is GCMSMS for fatty acid profiling.
While Jitendra point is definitely valid GC/MS/MS is not a trivial tool - to own or to use, and making it quantitative take some work. You can overcome the shifting peak issue by using internal standards. See the discussion in the link.

you can use FAME (Fatty acid methy estres) standard for the analysis of any oil and ghee. Use the AOAC method with GC-FID
