I would like to measure the root productivity of different mangrove trees. In this purpose, I will use the minirhizotron technique. I am currently running a lab experiment with mangrove tree seedlings. I collected already several pictures of the roots. Now, I would like to evaluate the lenght and the diameter of the roots.
I heard about Rootfly, Smartroot and Winrhizotron, however I could not find any published literature comparing them. Which one do you use and why?
I use WinRhiz to have different indexes such as number of root branches, root length, root diameter, etc
Its also easy to use
Whether you have access to Winrhizo it's a good option. By other side, the GiaRoots, a free software can also be adequate for this purpose.
