Researchers interested in data mining can decide between SPSS Text Analytics for Surveys or open source softwares like RapidMiner and specific modules on R language. Which one do you think is better accepted by the academic community?

All are used for different purpose.
As per my knowledge of both software,SPSS is for statistical analysis, Rapidminer for social media analytics.
Both are used by academician.
