If i have develop new biocomposite i.e Natural fiber reinforced PP. What are the Properties to be find it out. to find applicability of developed material for automotive. Specifically Instrument Panel, Bumper, Door trim panels etc
Mechanical properties such as Young modulus tensile strength should be similar to commonly used materials, but in all directions. Resistance for water, chlorides, sun, snow, frost, and other conditions of atmospheric environment should be considered. When I made PE reinforced with waste wood (scobs) from furniture production, my target was internal (in house) applications. Think, all depends on application. That is why easier way is to make kind of sandwich composite, PE+natural fibres covered with pure PE.
For automotive applications, the impact strength is very important as well as the tensile characteristics. Durability is also a matter of concern as Janusz Rebis told you. It's interesting to conceive a lighter material than the current ones as fuel saving is relevant for OEMs. A low viscosity can be targeted to optimize the injection process capacity. Odor and visual aspects are also relevent parameters...
What are the mechanical properties(Tensile , flexural, impact) of existing material used in automotive application as Instrument Panel/Bumper/trim panals?
