I have a little bit problem with my antenna model in CST-Studio. I used two Horn-Antennas in different distances. Between of them I used one time lossless and lossy air. In case of lossy air, I changed the tan(delta), which caused the 3dB/m attenuation, but unfortunately I can only see the correct result in 1m. If the distance is 2m or 3m, the attenuation must be theoritically 6dB and 9dB respectively but what I see after simulation is much lower than what I expected. Do you have any ideas, which part of the simulation could be wrong?

Dear Ronis Maximidis in comparison with the S_2,1 of both models (lossless and lossy air), I could understand that the results must be wrong in 2m and 3m. For example S_2,1 in lossless air with 2m distances of the Antennas is -39.18 dB and I expect taht S_2,1 in lossy case would be about -45 but what I have achieved is only -40.8.
Does the change in loss change the wavelength significantly? If so, it could change the gain of the horns.

Are you sure about 3dB/m losses, as it seems to me too high? Can it be that it is 3dB/km?

Homa Rottner has changed the loss tangent of air to create a fictional material with higher loss. Perhaps he did make the value too low, that might be one explanation. I wondered if he had made it too high! Changing the loss tangent so it is of the order of 1 or above also changes the real part of the refractive index significantly, so could affect the wavelength.
