Recently, many industries and academia have shown interest in LVDC distribution systems. However, no one has agreed on the standard voltages of the future public LVDC networks yet. Which of the following voltages would you vote for 750V, 400V, 380V, or 220V and why?
To my knowledge 220V and 400V is already standard in Europe. 220V is the normal and appliances that require a lot of power are often 400V both in industry and private houses.
I had washing machine, water heater and a sauna oven with 400V in my house a decade ago.
Thanks Henrik. Do you have the standard name as we are struggling within the IEC to identify the suitable LVDC voltage standard. 1500Vdc, 750Vdc, 380Vdc, 400Vdc, 220Vdc, 48Vdc all being used, but are not internationally standardised.
The standard voltage is 415 / 220 V for ac networks. For LVDC, a lower voltage will serve as an equivalent, bringing us to 48Vdc making it easy for battery-fed DC network. But considering the voltage magnitude and dc line losses, a higher voltage would be desire. Inputs from OEMs will be desirable.
