Hello everyone, I have been using D3C6 from cell signaling and MA1-065 (monoclonal X22 from Thermofisher. I feel that they donot work well. Can you please tell me about other antibodies besides these for Clathrin?Thank you.
What are you using the antibodies for (for example WB, IHC, ICC)? The D3C6 is a monoclonal rabbit antibody shown to work in WB, IP and ICC. If you need it for something else, it may not work for that reason. The MA1-065 is a monoclonal mouse antibody shown to work in WB, IHC and ICC, but not sure if it works on mouse cells.
First contact technical support for the two antibodies you already purchased and ask for a refund if they cannot help. There are at least 163 mouse cltc antibodies on the market across 25 suppliers. Based on your specific requirements, we can narrow down these choices for you to just a few so you buy the correct antibodies.
Thank you for the suggestion Jan.I am using for IF in bone marrow derived macrophages of mouse.Based on information from suppliers both should work on mouse cells.I feel I am not getting good staining.I want to try others. Can you suggest me with some choices?
You should first contact CST technical support to ask why their monoclonal rabbit antibody did not work. I do not think the Fisher mouse antibody is a good choice unless you have it directly conjugated to the fluorophore for detection (no secondary), or you use biotin-detection.
If CST cannot help, it is time to contact Aeonian Biotech for their services. They will make sure to find proper antibodies in the market, and they will help you with technical support during the use of their recommended antibodies. There are at least 84 products on offer across 20 suppliers (for ICC/IF on mouse), so they have to put in some efforts.
I would recommend a free antibody database available at labome.com. For clathrin antibodies you can check the following link: https://www.labome.com/review/gene/human/Clathrin-Heavy-Chain-antibody.html. Invitrogen has mouse monoclonal Clathrin Heavy Chain antibody (ThermoFisher Scientific, MA1-065) suitable for both IHC and WB on mouse samples. In addition, Abcam Clathrin Heavy Chain antibody (Abcam, ab21679) can also be used in IHC and WB. Also, BD Biosciences provides Clathrin Heavy Chain antibody (BD Biosciences, 610499) suitable for IHC and WB. Sigma-Aldrich Clathrin Heavy Chain mouse monoclonal (TD.1) antibody (Sigma, c-1860) can also be used for IHC and WB on mouse samples. You can see the description of these antibodies and references following the provided links.
