Footprint models are based on terrestrial applications, but what occurs when doing flux estimations using eddy covariance? The roughness depends on the waves, which constantly changes. Is there a model to estimate the footprint?
The only one I know from the aquatic side is by Berg et al (2007). They express the footprint as a function of measurement height and bottom roughness. I attached the publication.

Not my area of expertise, but my partner did his MSc. thesis on oceanic ozone deposition. These results were added to a co-authored paper by Helmig et al. (2012) (http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1029/2011JD015955/full) and mentions the footprint calculation method in section 3.2 with some references. Hope this helps.
