I am doing municipal wastewater treatment by biofilm ....
My experiment has been conducted using a continuous flow aerobic tank reactor with packed media as biofilm carrier.
I would like to get your kind help to determine which model is applicable in my case to determine kinetic parameters. In fact I found that Monode model is the most common one. However, I am not sure whether it is applicable to biofilm process because this model has the parameter of sludge age (mean cell residence time) which is limited to activated sludge process rather than biofilm.

There are some modifications presented for mathematical modeling of biofilm based reactors such as Stover-Kincannon model.
I believe Grau (second order) model has many advantageous over the other common models. In the other words, i want to say you can reliably trust the obtained coefficients of Grau model as it considers the contribution of active biomass. Please, be aware that you should select the best model according to its coefficient of determination (R2). It is greatly suggested that the best model selected according to its high degree of precision.
However, you must evaluate and calculate all of the common models and it depends on the organic loading rate, type of bioreactor and its conditions.

From the reading in this area. I concluded the following idea. Do you agree with me or I am mistaken?
(Unlike activated sludge process, determination of bacterial growth rate in biofilm process is difficult. Indeed most of the researchers who did kinetic studies considered only substrate utilization and did not mention any thing about the growth rate).
