I have very good experience with Dichloran Rose Bengal Chloramphenicol agar for Rhizopus stolonifer isolation from stone fruit.
Rhizopus stolonifer, isolated from e.g. peach fruits, was maintained on potato dextrose agar (PDA). The fungal colonies grown on PDA at 25 oC were white cottony at first, and became heavily speckled with the appearance of sporangia and the browinish black, spreading rapidly by means of stolons fired at various points to the substrate by rhizoids.
Isolate from stone fruit under aseptic conditions and inoculate on PDA and incubate at 25+- 2 degree C. on appearance of dense cottony white mass with black heads, prepare a microscopic slide in fungal stain and observe under microscope.
