I think that toolholder location is good.
The principal force is the cutting force (Fc), ie the force made by the chip over the rake plane of the tool. In most lathes, this direction is vertical.
One accelerometer is good.
I think too that is very important know which are the natural frecuencies of machine parts, for not exitating with the revolution of spindle. This situation wil be caused no precision measures.
