I would like to know which large sustainable energy demonstration projects are running right now, in a country or series of countries, which are too premature to already being subject of a scientific publication yet. Can you tell me if you know such projects or series of projects??

The word "sustainable" is very broad. If you are interested in CCUS for coal-fired units, search for Petra Nova a project in Texas. If you view waste-to-energy as sustainable which many do, many projects exist. Reppie in Ethiopia is the first municipal scale WTE plant in Africa. I could get philosophical on you and tell you that the term sustainable is misleading. Our sun is a star. Stars have life spans. Therefore solar power is not "sustainable". Forgive me but I write all that with a big smile as I would encourage wind and solatr where feasible and beneficial.
I think all the responses are far away from what I see as realistic response to the question. One project (the first project identified as belonging to Brazil) is related to a smart grid operated SPV identified as the first project is a combination of Wind and diesel generator- at 20 kW class meant for a rural community. I suspect it must have been done as a research demonstration project.
The cost of the project must be huge on per kW basis and it is unclear what the economics of operation would be. There are several 100 to more than 1000 kWe projects operational in India with power being put into the grid. These can always be thought of as smaller inputs into the grid maintained by thermal or large hydro power systems. In the current scenario, both solar and wind systems will play a larger role since they have been scaled up and supported by Governments (synergistically). Even islands normally powered by smaller sized diesel generators (100 to several thousand kWe class) have solar power generators feeding into the local grid, hoping to reduce the fossil fuel usage. The diesel based power generators are strongly desired not simply because they provide assured power supply 24 x 7, but procurement of diesel allows for leakages for corruption. Fighting these forces takes the society to other dimensions.
In summary renewable energy projects related to SPV or wind with battery storage with smart grid operation are being tried out in India in Islands (lakshadweep and Anadaman and Nicobar). I have visited them and they can function well. Biomass related power generation is not a fashion these days.
Biomass based combustion devices offer economic options for the generation of heat for industries and large scale cooking arrangements and are being explored.
Thanks to Hanasoge Mukunda. Here in the US, many back-up/emergency systems are diesel based. The desire for dependable, ready to start (and continue for a duration) power causes these units to remain. As I have written elsewhere, when a society/economy is willing to settle for intermittent electrical power, we can go fully "renewable." Even hydro is intermittent in the sense that drought causes it to diminish. Look at eastern Africa. Nuclear or fossil at some level is required to sustain the industrial and military cultures we have developed. Your point about corruption is noted and important also. Self-interest is basic and each of us ought to do all we can to meet our basic needs and seek for excess to help others. When a greater need threatens one's comfort (or one's job, or status, or greed), we first cut corners, then move to cheating, and the hardened heart justifies all sorts of bad behavior.
