Thanks Gerhard ! SEM and TEM are really expensive and I have come across the SEM in nanoparticles. Furthermore, if the material is not conductive, coating maybe required. Are there specific equipment for alloys, polymers and composites.
you are right, all these equipments are very expensive.
But with respect to your question, to my knowledge there is no special designated equipment available for different kinds of material, however coating is sometime required in order to avoid charging, as you mentioned above.
But also playing around with acceleration voltage can be helpful.
