When writing a CV and listing publications, which journal impact factor should I add to the reference, the journal impact factor of the year the article was published or the current journal impact factor?
! If the year of online first publication and the actual print publication in a specific issue of the journal is different, would you use the year of online first or print issue?
if you want to add the impact factor to your CV (as you know the IF fluctuates from year to year) then the current year IF of the journal should be added. Th be on the more stable side (less fluctuation) you could use the 5-year publication window of the journal IF.
Thanks for all your answers. There seems to be no consensus on which impact factor counts for publications. There are three positions with different levels of support: 3 comments with 1 recommendations suggest the current IF of the journal; 1 comment with 3 recommendations suggest the IF of the publication year; and 1 comment with 11 recommendations suggests the IF of the submission year. Any thoughts?
