The details behavior from device oriented results lcan be obtained by the simulator. I do not have any expertise regarding any TCAD software. You can also suggest me regarding the software and how to obtain the training materials for the same softwares.
Try using Lumerical https://www.lumerical.com/ . The software is very useful for simulations and you can find training material and support on their website.
You can also try COMSOL. Lot of help is available online on youtube and their website for training.
Well, different software are useful depending on your simulation requirement. Here's my suggestion.
1. RSOFT: Useful if you're optimizing a commercial device, an MZI for example. Easy to learn, hard to program.
2. COMSOL: If you are simulating additional parameters other than optical ones: electrical and thermal effects for example.
3. LUMERICAL: Better than Rsoft. Better interface. Good technical support. Easier to program. More and more researchers are using it lately.

Yes, I am looking for these kind of the devices . More specifically I want a complete simulation of p-i-n phase shifter which is thermally or electronically tunable. I require a startup as I have no ideal how to simulate it in any of the software like RSOFT or COMSOL or Silvaco etc.
