Does anyone has an idea about the best protocol for obtaining highly stabilized spin-coated film of silica hybrid sol on gold sensor?
I have prepared silica sol using the sol-gel technique and have spin coated the gold sensor with 100 uL of the sol for 4000 rpm for 20 s. However, after vacuum drying for 12 hours, the coated films deplete off the gold surface during immersion in any liquid or blowing with Nitrogen gas.
How can I obtain a strong film adhesion and stability on the gold electrode?
To improve adhesion, I believe, can be fetched by the surface morphology changes - such as - making a chemical or mechanical abrasion.
Thanks Marcio, but considering the spin coating procedure that requires a very clean, smooth and mirror-like surface to obtain a uniform film coating, making a chemical or mechanical abrasion may not be appropriate for my aim. Thank you anyway.
Thanks Emanuel, can you be more specific with your answer? I will appreciate a detailed explanation of how to carry out UV treatment of a silica film on a gold sensor.
Before your deposition you leave your samples under UV for 15 minutes (less or more depends). Another test that you can do, to see if you have a good adhesion is to measure the contact angle of your solution on your substrate with gold. If you don´t have a good adhesion you can try to change the solvent of your solution.
