Dear community,
As part of my master thesis I am going to test a structural equation model that I am attaching next. It is a multi-stage moderated mediation. My university offers me the chance to buy the SPSS or STATA license for students, so it would be great if you could give some insights on past experience using these software packages for the purpose of my research. Other software packages are of course also welcomed :-)
I would like to know 2 specific things:
1. Which software would you recommend me to conduct the model testing and why?
2. What would be the necessary steps in the recommended tool?

For a long run, I recommend Sata over SPSS Amos. Most of academic papers that deal with SEM are using either Stata, Mplus, or R; very few cite SPSS Amos. If you like a dedicated software for SEM, you cannot go wrong with Mplus.
When Open Source language like R or Python took over academic research, it hit hard for SAS, SPSS, and Stata. Stata is the only software company that I know that has retained customers, and it's keep getting better.

Path models like this are most effectively and efficiently estimated within specialized software such as R (lavaan), which is free, or commercial SEM packages such as Mplus. SEM software allows you to estimate the model as a whole (using path analysis), examine global and local model fit statistics, and test the effects of interest for statistical significance using the most appropriate techniques such as e.g. bootstrapped confidence intervals for mediated effects.
@Andrea M-Plus and R would be very handy to run your model if you're interested in conditional indirect effects (moderated mediation) as hypothesized on H4 path in your model. However, if you only look to test simple mediation and moderation, then Smart-PLS would be an appropriate choice given that it allows to add Moderator on direct paths which AMOS doesn't.
