In software development, the so-called V-model often comes to use. This model is described e.g. in the guideline VDI 2206. It is a special case of a waterfall model, and describes the software development process, beginning from the requirements and ending in the testing phase. As a speciality, it shows the interaction between early phases of requirement definition, module clustering and programming, and later phases as testing and module integration.
The implementation of knowledge bases is another thing, which is related to knowledge aquision, knowledge engineering and knowledge archiving.
