I'm actually working in human macrophages HCMV infection. I'm used to calculate percentage of infection by fluorescence microscopy, using indirect staining and counting IE1+ cells. Is this method proper to know whether cells are more or less permissive to infection in any conditions? Do you use other method to calculate it, instead? I only want to be sure enough to stablish than lower IE1+ cells means lower infection. Thank you very much in advance!
