For Rhizobia and Pseudomonas we can use glycerol as a best liquid carrier. Addition of glycerol preserves the viability of bacterial cells and enhances shelf life. Apart from this glycerol also holds considerable amount of water and protects cells from desiccation by slowing the drying rate.
