Other than cross sectional studies, I wish to gain knowledge in calculating the sample size for interventional studies as well as calculate sample size with the help of Standard Deviation etc..
I use the book by Armitage and Berry; Statistical Methods in Medical Research for statistical questions, but I've never really looked in that to find a sample size calculation. But maybe it is in your library.
Methods of calculating the sample size can easily be found in numerous texts on medical statistics. You don't have to ask RG, you have to search the literature.

The sample size is basically determined by the effect one wishes to detect, the power of the statistical test, and the variability of measurements (standard deviation).

If you are doing medical research, recommend you use medical resources. However, if you are doing something aligned with behavioral research, I have used the sample size charts (and desired power) from charts in this book (Chapter 13 and appendices):
