Which is more accurate among all commercially available personal glucometers to measure glucose concentration in water-glucose samples? Is there any rating available for personal glucometers based on the performance?
While it is true that most current consumer glucometers are similarly accurate or inaccurate, depending on your needs and perspective, I am not certain that all of them are designed to read glucose in water.
You should probably contact the company and explain to them what you are interested in doing. I cannot say about all or even most but many glucometer are calibrated with blood and relatively normal hematocrit in mind; if you use just glucose solution in water, you may get significantly different readings than the actual amount of glucose in water.
Hi Satish ¡ I agree with Tausif obout the use of blood glucometers for measurement of glucose in wáter. You can be sure with the measurement of glucose in kown concentrations in wáter on several solutions prepared by yourself
Tausif and Regina are correct conventional glucometers are calibrated to measure glucose in blood not water. You could do as Regina suggested and test them on solutions of glucose in water with know concentrations, but your best bet would be to contact the manufacturers directly and ask them if their meters would be effective for this type of measurement.
