What are the advantages and disadvantages of SPSS and AMOS, and which one is more suitable for administrative research, and is preference conditional on certain circumstances?
It depends on what analyses you are planning to conduct. SPSS is a much more general statistical software than AMOS. AMOS is primarily a program for structural equation modeling, including confirmatory factor analysis and path analysis.
If your goal is general statistical analysis, I would also consider R (https://www.r-project.org/), which is free and more general than SPSS and AMOS combined.
The general answer is SPSS as it is a full service statistical analysis program depending on the modules that are included. It should be noted that AMOS is a module that is also available through SPSS and SPSS is owned and distributed by IBM. There are numerous other statistical packages such as SAS that are also available. R statistics is an open source free program but you do not get the support you would get with others. If you are interested in structural equation modeling in particular, there is other software designed for that.
