Volume cultivation per photobioreactor is about 20L-30L. Cultivation also will be analyzed in term of wastewater parameter and heavy metal contain reduction
Glass is certainly easy to make into whatever shape you want. But I think two factors at least should be considered: 1st, the mechanical strength of the glass. Will a glass reactor be stronge enough to hold 20~30 L of water? .
2nd, the light transmittance. As light passes through glass or acrylic plastic, not only the intensity but also probably the spectrum could change, depending on the property of the materials. So you might also want to look at the optimum growth conditions of the microalgae you're studying.
for small reactors, either should be OK. for bigger ones, such as several tons, I prefer plastic reactors. glass reactor is too difficult to clean, assemble and dissemble.
