Generally Nanotubes are preferred when you want to do a release study in a suitable environment, you can load suitable inhibitors or drugs in your nanotubes which comply to the diameter size of your particular nanotube and then check the performance of your loaded nanotubes.

whereas Nanowires are mostly preferred in Electrical application
