The two stroke diesel engine is widely used as the the four stroke as it has more output power. however, the two stroke engine has high losses whether heat lose or unburnt gases. So, in comparison with four stroke which engine has the best performance.
No doubt , a 2 stroke engine of the same size produces more output power -at the same time it consumes more than double the fuel compared to a four stroke.Hence the specific power output for a two stroke engine is high ,but performance wise in terms of thermal efficiency,specific fuel consumption,volumetric efficiency a four stroke engine is much better.
In terms of uniform torque ,high speed operation,less space and less complications in intake and exhaust arrangements (no need of valves) a two stroke is preferred for small capacities.

What you mentioned is quietly true from power point of view but what about the performance point of view.
Except the mechanical power output and torque, the environmental and fuel economy performances of engines working based on four stroke cycle are better than those based on two stroke cycle. This is may be mainly owing to the better chance to burn the injected fuel completely. Moreover, the combustion process in four stroke engines can be controlled better than two stroke to emit lower toxic compounds.

Performance of four stroke engine is better than two stroke engine since scavenging action causes fresh charge go out of cylinder without performing work.However mechanical efficiency of two stroke engines are better due to less number of components.
In responsible era, four stroke should be considered high performance from common citizen's perspective. Saves fuel, cuts pollution, saves money, reduces GHG emissions.
