Dear colleagues, I am a PhD student who is studying the behavior of concrete-filled steel columns. But, I have just read in some papers that we shall consider the confinement effect in the concrete core provided by the steel columns when we are modeling this type of structure in a finite element software such as ABAQUS. According to some authors we shall consider the confined concrete diagram in the concrete plasticity model. But, in my point of view, I would input the uniaxial diagram for the concrete core and the software would consider the confinement provided by the steel tube given that in the concrete plasticity model can bring us some confinement parameters such as: dilation angle and the ratio of the compressive strength under biaxial loading to uniaxial compressive strength.
Does anybody know which type of diagram should I consider?
