We have sighting transect data from animals in a natural population collected from two years and want to statistically compare these to assess increase/decrease in sightings/population size/etc. It concerns many transects that were repeatedly visited.

What different technique are out there to do this?

Two examples that we are already looking at are 1) population size estimate comparisons through DISTANCE, 2) ANCOVA tests.

Thanks, Matthijs
