Please provide your opinion on which characterization technique is suitable to identify between different phases (e.g., alpha, beta, cubic, graphitic etc.) of carbon nitride (C3N4) films synthesized by chemical vapour deposition.

if your coating is microcrystalline and you are looking for structural analyses; Grazing Incidence XRD is the technique you need to use. TEM or HRTEM if you have availability could could provide even more information about size and morphology of your structures. Best regards, Simone
Thank you Azeez Abdullah Barzinjy for sharing the article. It has different aspects mentioned related to C3N4 synthesis and its characterization processes.
Thank you Dr. Simone Vezzù for your guidance. At the moment it is difficult for us to access TEM or HRTEM. Can you please provide some more insight on how to identify various phases of C3N4 from Grazing Incidence XRD (which is accessible at the moment)? Any additional article related to this will certainly help.
We are synthesizing C3N4 by varying different gas ratios in our in-house developed ECR PE-CVD system. Hence, want to identify the different phases by the suggested XRD technique.
In various articles, the different phases are supported by their respective band-gap energies calculated using Tauc Plot from UV-Vis Absorption Spectra. XRD seems much better alternative in comparison to this. Looking forward to your opinion and suggestion.
nice approach, interesting to see which kind of structure could be formed.
I think that a relevant contribution could arise from the peaks of diamond-like-carbon structures. I would recommend to consider the review article of Robertson could as a referent starting point on this subject.
