Hi Debashish,

Social Constructionism is an orientation rather than a research method. While there are books aimed specifically at Social Constructionism (and Constructivism--which is something different) it might be most beneficial if you narrow down your choice based on your specific research question and the method you will use to answer that question.

For example, if you are interested in emerging theory you might be interested in Kathy Charmaz' Constructing Grounded Theory book (citation below).

Thanks, Sean, for your response. My work is on inquiring everyday life and how people construct their reality of everyday life. Yes, you said it right that social obstructionism is more of orientation rather than a method. That's why I am finding it hard to follow a qualitative research methods book that can be followed by my research orientation on constructionism.

Dear Debashish Sarker Dev, I would recommend Denzin and Lincoln's SAGE Handbook of Qualitative Research (5th edn). It is massive and expensive but contains both a valuable introduction to, and overview of, the expansive field of qualitative inquiry, as well as specialised sections on methods and methodologies. I would expect any good university library to have at least one copy of this. Good luck with your research! Best, Birgitta
