I would like to produce lactic acid via the fermentation route, mostly simultaneous saccharification and fermentation (SSF).
I am looking bacterial strain which will give the highest lactic acid yield at optimal SSF conditions.
Any suggestions?

Who is willing to share his/her lactic acid bacteria strain?
We may set up a research collaboration.

Lactobacillus spp.:
L. acidophilus
L. bulgaricus,
L. plantarum,
L. caret,
L. pentoaceticus,
L brevis and
L. thermophilus
The above lactic acid bacteria (LAB) can be used for lactic acid production. I suggest you to perform extensive literature review on lactic acid production for a bacterial strain yielding highest lactic acid.
P. pentosaceus is best for Lactic acid production.
I have attached an report. Please find it attached. Other than P. pentosaceus. Streptococcus thermophilus will be the second best.
I can share my S.thermophilus strain for research purposes.

Many kinds of bacteria were used for lactic acid production in previous papers. And Lactobacillus was used most widely and had a higher yield from glucose.
1,Lactobacillus spp:
L. platarum , L. lactis , L. delbrueckii were used widely in reported papers, and L.coryniformis , L. paracasei , L. jensenii , L. rhamnosus and some other strains were also used in previous papers.
The above bacteria can produce lactic acid from glucose efficiently.
2, Engineered E. coli strains were used in many papers with good yield.
3, Klebsiella pneumoniae was used for D- lactate production in some reports with high productivity and yield.
4, Sporolactobacillus , Saccharomyces cerevisiae , Corynebacterium glutamicum , and cyanobacteria can also produce lactic acid.
