I want to perform a tensile strength test of stainless steel wire which is around 1 mm in diameter. I need the gauge length and strain rate. please tell me which ASTM standard addresses the specific test.
IEC has standards that can be used but they are limited to Overhead powerline conductors. In terms of rope for tensile applications i have personally not used a standard in this regard.
Dear Anas N S , according to the mentioned standards, the gauge length should be either 4D or 5D. the wire that I am using has a dia of 1.1 mm, so a gauge length of 5 mm is not practical. what should I do now?
