Dear Mudasir, remeber that primary data is collected from the source. Depending on the purpose of your enquiry/study, some of the methods you can choose from for primary data collection are: mailed questionnaires, telephone or web based surveys, interviews, observations and focus gropus.
In secondary data gathering, you could gather data from existing governmental and non-governmental statistical reports, research institutions, journals, theses and dissertations.
Just remember to assess quality of data on these properties:
Dear Mudasir, you ask a great question and Nnono provides you with a great answer. I agree with what he says but would like to add that as well as the 3 properties Nnono suggests, you should also consider validity and ethicality. The question you ask is very broad and it may help us to suggest things to you if you could be a little more specific about your needs?
I agreed to the previous scholars' comments on the methods to collect both primary & secondary data. But in case your research required you to collect both primary & secondary data for different constructs / variables, you need to know how to integrate them together for data analysis before actual data collection. If you want, you can refer to my post in this link on what are the factors to consider. All the best.
